Happy Labor Day from the members of Local 5444!Illinois played a pivotal role in the creation of the Labor Day federal holiday due to the turbulent Pullman Strike of 1894. These actions prompted President Grover Cleveland to enact the holiday as a means of reconciliation with the labor movement.
